Richard L. Ziegler, Sr., 72, of New Britain, died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004 at New Britain General Hospital with his loving wife and son at his side. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Adam and Evelyn Fisher Ziegler. He attended local schools and was a life long New Britain resident. Richard was the owner and operator of Ziegler Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of St. Ann's Church. He was a charter member of the Eight Ward Political Club, a member of Spartans Veterans Athletic Club, Elks Lodge #957, and the Old Timers Winston Cup Racing Association. He was a past member of the 100 Club of Connecticut. Richard was an avid Nascar Race fan. Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara Taricani Ziegler; a loving son, Richard L. Ziegler, Jr. of New Britain; a loving daughter, Jacqueline B. Zykes of Meriden; a grandson, George Glenn of Wallingford; two brothers, Robert C. Ziegler, Sr. of New Britain and Raymond H. Ziegler, Sr. of Berlin; a sister, Kathrine LeClair of New Britain; his three pals, Rocky, Pina, and Niko; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Beverly J. Cisz Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the caregivers, Antoinette Taricani and Anthony Taricani, Sr. for their love and care to the Ziegler Family.
