Richard L. Valenti, 89, of New Britain, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Lange) Valenti, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2022 at the Hospital of Central CT.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Gasper Paul Valenti and Anna (Zotter) Valenti.  Richard was a US Army veteran, who served during the Korean War.  He was employed by Stanley Works, as an engineer in the hardware division, for over 46 years.

After retiring, Richard enjoyed time spent with fellow retirees, at Stanley Senior Center events. He also was an avid reader, and would often read multiple books, simultaneously.

Richard had a heart of gold, and will forever be remembered for his quiet strength, and the selfless help he gave to so many over the years  He is survived by his daughters, Marion Graff, Laura Caron and her husband Gerry, Karen Valenti and Tom Poland; a sister, Leonora Cooper; his grandchildren, Kimberly Nirka and her husband Phil, Christian Graff and his wife Amber, Erica Graff, Lisa Graff and Gary Saucier, Alyssa Caron, Brittany Bonin and her husband Zachary; a great-grandchild, Adeline Bonin, as well as many extended family members.  In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Godfrey; a brother Nicholas Valenti; and a sister,  Dorothy Bregonzio.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Burial, with military honors, will be held privately at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT  06051.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.
