Richard P. "Richie" Macchietto, 90, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor in New Britain. He was the widow of Christine (Bellini) Macchietto. Born in Greenwich Village, NY, he was the son of the late Attilio Macchietto and Malvina (Testa) Macchietto. Richard was a New Britain resident most of his life and was formerly employed as an electrician at Stanley Works, before retiring. He was a member of St. Ann's Church, and the Stanley Seniors, where he was active in planning Stanley Senior trips for many years. Richard was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and managed the Stanley Works Baseball team in his younger years. He loved to travel and visit the Casinos. Richard was a former member of Elks Lodge. Surviving are his loving daughter, Marian Macchietto of New Britain; two grandchildren, Jay Filipek and his wife Sabrina, and Tom Filipek; two great-grandchildren who he adored, Justin Filipek and Travis Filipek; a brother, Albert Macchietto and his wife Rita of San Diego, CA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear friends. Richard was predeceased by an infant daughter, Linda Macchietto. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Monsignor Bojnowksi Manor for their loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10 30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., before the church service.
