Richard A. Hoffmann, 80, of Berlin, passed away on Friday, July 27 after a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Carole (Neurath) Hoffmann. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Charles and Viola (Zoeller) Hoffmann. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1950 and worked in the family business, Hoffmann's bakery in New Britain. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. Richard worked in the family business for many years and later went on to become a machinist. He retired from the A.G. Russell Co. in Bristol and then moved to Florida. Richard and Carole lived there for 12 years, returning to CT in 2006. He enjoyed woodworking and made many things for family and friends. In addition to his wife, Richard leaves his three daughters and a son-in-law, Sherri and Robert Bauder, Diane Theriault, Jill Teffs, his son and daughter-in-law David and Mira Hoffmann, his nine grandchildren, Erik, Ryan and Robyn Bauder, Justin Theriault and his wife Nicolette, Adam, Marc and Bryan Hoffmann, Katherine and Bethany Mullins, his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Mildred Hoffmann, two nieces, Susan Hoffmann and Gail Benson. He was predeceased by a sister, Norma Hoffmann. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
