Richard P. Daigle, 75, of Kensington, CT, returned to his heavenly home on December 10, 2018, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. His devotion to his family and belief in God supported him and brought him peace.

Richard P. Daigle was born on March 17, 1943 in Madawaska, Maine.  He was the son to the late Wilfrid and Edwina (Roy) Daigle.  Richard P. Daigle married his loving, devoted wife Claire (Soucy) Daigle.  They were happily married for fifty-five years.  In 1967 they moved to New Britain, Connecticut.  Richard began his career with Fafnir and once they closed he took his job with Dattco, Inc.  Richard worked at Dattco, Inc. for almost 45 years.  He wore many hats thru the years.  Richard was a giving, helpful and hardworking man. Dattco, Inc. is where Richard grew a fond admiration for buses and construction equipment.  One of his joys was being in the cab operating a machine. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed his family especially during the holidays.  Our family shared some great, loving memories during Christmas.  The holidays will always remain special to all of us.  He also enjoyed going on a good road trip, one of his favorite areas to visit with his wife for some quiet time was Boothbay, Maine.

Richard will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly by his wife, Claire and his children, Elaine Arnett and her partner Ricky, Kathy Sweden and her husband David and his grandchildren.  Richard cherished his family and especially enjoyed being a Pepere.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his sisters, Muriel Plourde, Theresa Daigle and Lynn Daigle. He is predeceased by not only his parents, Wilfrid & Edwina Daigle, but also his brother and sister-in-law Eldon & Jeannine Daigle and step sister Rita Parenteau. He also leaves many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends especially his long time friend, Major Laszlo Taborosi Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am on Friday, December 14, at St. Joachim Parish Church of St. Mary's Church, 544 Main Street, New Britain, CT.  Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.  Family and friends may call at Erickson-Hansen Funeral home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT on Friday, December 14th from 8:30 to 10:30 the morning of the service.
