Rene Nazario Garcia, 69, of New Britain, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at his home on December 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Rene was born on May 29, 1956, in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, to the late Balois Nazario and Carlota Garcia de Nazario. He later settled in New Britain, Connecticut, where he built a life centered on family, music, and community.
Rene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Carmen Figueroa; his children, Rene Nazario Jr.; Xavier Nazario, his wife Jennie, and their children Xavier Jr. and Sophia; Joel Nazario, his wife Denise, and their children Joel, Emanuel, Jacob, and Noah; and Jerry Nazario. He is also survived by his siblings Rosita, Arturo, Harry, Radames, Arnaldo, and Irene. Rene was the youngest of eighteen siblings, and he is lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
For over 20 years, Rene served as Director of the Spanish Church Choir at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where his passion for music and ability to bring people together left a lasting impact. Music was one of his greatest joys, and he had a natural gift for filling any room with happiness. He also loved baseball and took great pride in his Puerto Rican culture and heritage.
Rene was known for his generosity, warmth, and joyful spirit. His love for music, his kind heart, and the happiness he shared so freely will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, December 28, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral in New Britain, Connecticut. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bristol, Connecticut. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in New Britain, with a reception following the burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bristol.
