Raymond Mott, known to all as Ray, passed away Wednesday April 27 th 2022. Ray was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer in February 2021 and courageously fought to have more time with his family and loved ones. Ray was born June 8 th 1976 to Edward and Nancy Mott. Ray leaves behind his wife Stephanie (LeBel) Mott and their beloved son Jarrod Francis Mott. Ray also leaves behind his parents and his In Laws, as well as countless friends from all over. Ray and Stephanie eloped 11-11-11 and welcomed Jarrod at the end of 2013. In 2021, they celebrated a beautiful wedding vow renewal with friends and family. Ray attended Windham Technical High School and graduated in Machine Tool, class of 1994. He set out to grow and flourish in his trade. He was so creative and his technical skills were amazing. He built motorcycles on his kitchen table; he machined and fabricated unique and custom parts. One of his greatest accomplishments was a “Mini Jeep” he built for Jarrod. It was a fully electric golf cart set up that resembled a Jeep Wrangler. He made each part with pride. Another one of Ray’s greatest accomplishments was being hired at Windham Tech as a Machine Tool instructor; he took the position in late 2018 and was so proud of his work with the students. As the COVID pandemic hit, Ray would stream videos of himself machining from his workshop at home. He would introduce tools and show how they worked in the videos. Much of those videos were of him working on the beloved “Mini Jeep”. Ray was the kind of man who was always there to lend a hand. He was kind, generous, smart and he had the best sense of humor of anyone I’ve ever known. Ray and Stephanie traded in their motorcycle adventures when Jarrod was a young boy. They moved their interest to camping. They would load the camper up and throw the “Mini Jeep” up on a custom sled deck Ray had built and hit the road. Each trip would bring new excitement and wonder; sometimes it was hard to tell who was more excited, Ray or Jarrod. The family also had a 1931 Oldsmobile that was affectionately called the “Christmas Tree Getter”, if you received a Christmas News Letter from the Mott’s you would have proudly seen a picture of this. Ray also took great pride in his home and the amazing life he had created with Stephanie and Jarrod. He was an adoring husband and father. Ray was a man of very little words; he loved through actions. He gave opportunities and loved to see the look on people’s faces when he fixed something that was broken or figured out something that had been puzzling someone. If you knew Ray, you have a story of something he fixed, or a funny joke he told you. You have a memory of his smile or the lively sound of his laugh. Ray was a vibrant and amazing man who was only 45 years old, he had a lifetime in front of him that was taken too soon. Ray will truly be missed by all who had the honor to know him. His family would like to invite you to celebrate his life on Sunday May 15 th at the Franco- American Civic & Social Club, 116 Club Road, Windham CT at 1pm.
