Raymond John Jankowski, 80, of West Hartford, husband of Phyllis (Rozanski) Jankowski, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Kundra) Jankowski. Ray was a long time New Britain resident before moving to West Hartford 17 years ago and was a graduate of New Britain High School's class of 1952. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Ray was formerly employed at Fafnir Bearing Co. before retiring. He was a member of Bethany Covenant Church, the United Auto Workers Union, where he formerly served as Union Steward and Financial Secretary, a member of the Polish Falcons in New Britain and a member of Winding Trails in Farmington. Ray was an avid New York Yankees Fan. In addition to his wife Phyllis, he is survived by his daughter, Lynn Rae Graf and her husband Mark of Avon; two brothers, Theodore Jankowski of Bristol and Joseph Jankowski of North Carolina; three step-sons, Edward Bengtson, Leonard Bengtson, and Stephen Bengtson, and their children. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 1-4 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.
