Ramon N. Cancel

Ramon N. Cancel, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 16, 2018. He was the widower of Inez M. Cancel. They shared 18 years of marriage.

Born in San German, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Ramon Cancel and Maria Negron. Ramon was employed at Stanley Works in New Britain for 26 years as a machine operator. He enjoyed sitting in the sun, watching the neighborhood and enjoying nature. Ramon will be remembered as a peaceful, kind, loving, and honorable man.

He is survived by his children Sandra Stevens of Newington, Oscar Cancel and his wife Rachel of New Britain; his grandchildren Ashley and Karl Stevens, Justin Cancel, and his great-granddog Fiona Stevens. He was predeceased by his son Carlos Lopez, and his several brothers.

Funeral service will be held on Friday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church, New Britain.  Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
