Ralph L. Sager

Ralph Leonard Sager, 92, of Cromwell and formerly of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on November 18, 1933, Ralph was the son of the late Rudolph and Ethel Sager. When Ralph was only 12, his beloved father, Rudy, passed away, profoundly affecting the family. With remarkable determination, his mother learned to drive, found employment, and worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for Ralph and his sister, Betty, helping both earn college educations.

Ralph met the love of his life, Nancy Lindestrand, at a youth camp in Cromwell during their high school years. They later attended North Park Junior College together, and Ralph went on to complete his studies at the University of Connecticut. Following graduation, he proudly served two years in the United States Navy, stationed in Pensacola, Florida, and Little Creek, Virginia. While serving his country, he and Nancy were married on June 30, 1956, beginning a loving partnership that would span 64 years.

Ralph began his career in sales before becoming owner and president of The Rogers Sash & Door Company in Newington. He was respected for his leadership, integrity, and dedication throughout his professional life.

A man of deep faith, Ralph was a longtime member of Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin. His commitment to service extended beyond his local congregation through leadership roles within the Evangelical Covenant Church, including service on the boards of Covenant Retirement Communities and the denomination's Board of Benevolence.

Ralph also had a lifelong love of music, particularly choral singing. He was an active member of his church choir and served on the Board of Directors of Connecticut Choral Artists. He was equally passionate about sports and remained a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and UConn athletics throughout his life.

Ralph is survived by his three children and their spouses: Ron and Tori Sager of Farmington; Sandy and Ron Dichner of Lady Lake, Florida; and Doug and Hilde Sager of Northbrook, Illinois. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Connor, Kysa, and Annika Sager; Zak (Pawemi) Dichner; Anna (Steve) Dichner; Kari Sager; and Erik (Kait) Sager- as well as six great-grandchildren. Ralph was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Nancy Sager, and his sister, Betty Patterson.
