Rafael Luna

Rafael Luna, 59, of Newington, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2008 at Newington Healthcare after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Yolanta Szostek Luna. Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of Aguedo and Ramona Mercado Luna. Rafael is a former New Britain resident and worked at Fafnir Bearing for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Rafael Luna, Jr. of New York, NY, a step son Jose Tirado, eight brothers, Luis, Eduardo, Heriberto, Cruz, and Aguedo, Jr., all of New Britain, Efrain Luna of Plainville, Juan Luna of Middletown, and Benjamin Rodriguez of New Britain, six sisters, Lisa Gonzalez, Lydia Centeno and Norma Amaro, all of Puerto Rico, Luz Luna, Carmen Borrero and Wanda Santiago all of New Britain, five grandchildren, a special friend Maria Nieves of New Britain and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church. Burial will be held in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
