Phoebe B. Lorenson

Phoebe Blomstrann Lorenson, 95 of Pilgrim Manor, Covenant Living of Cromwell, CT passed away on October 31, 2023 in Cromwell, CT.

Phoebe was born on March 11, 1928 in New Britain, CT to Emil and Ruth (Dahlgren) Blomstrann.  She graduated from New Britain Senior High School in 1946 and North Park College, Chicago, IL in 1947.  After college Phoebe enjoyed a brief career at American Hardware in New Britain. She married Harold Lorenson on October 27, 1951 and together they enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Their homes together included Ohio (1950-1963), San Diego (1953), The Netherlands, (1963-1969, 1975-1977) and decades in Bristol, CT until they joined Covenant Living for the last chapter of their lives.

Phoebe dedicated her life to raising her children in homes filled with love, stability, great meals, and laughter. She was a talented seamstress and a master of a well-balance meal. In between volunteering in various organizations, she enjoyed family ski trips, golfing, and was an avid and talented bowler. She hosted countless gatherings in her home for friends, international work colleagues, or the large extended Swedish-American families both she and Harold enjoyed. Despite burying two sons, Phoebe led with a smile, her deep faith, and a self-less demeanor that often disguised both her worries and her quiet persistent strength.

Her final years were spent at Pilgrim Manor where she received loving care. Over time her memories and speech were lost, yet she continued to light up a room with her smile and to recall the words of her favorite hymns.

Phoebe is survived by daughters Linda Lysaght (James), Karen Tracey (Gregory), Greta Robbins (Bob) and pre-deceased by her sons Bruce and David Lorenson. She leaves grand-children Patrick Lysaght (Katherine), Andrew Lysaght (Becky Kusko), Julia Lysaght, Brendan Tracey, Colleen Tracey (Alejandro Carrasco), Erika Robbins and Shawn Robbins; and great-grandchildren Katelyn, Sean, Abigail, and Nicole Lysaght and Mateo and Luca Carrasco. She was pre-deceased by her siblings and their spouses, Rachel and Henry Carlson, Irving and Lois Blomstrann, Bob and Ruth Blomstrann. She will be missed by several surviving in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends across multiple generations.

The burial will be private through Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of New Britain. Donations may be made to the Benevolent Care Fund of Covenant Living of Cromwell, 52 Missionary Rd, Cromwell, CT 06416. Most of all, remember her smile and pay it forward.
