Philip Peter Floros, 90, of New Britain, husband of the late Alda R. (Nicolini) Floros, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 in Bryn Mawr, PA. Born in New Britain, he was the son of Peter and Nina (Distin) Floros. He was a resident of New Britain most of his life and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater in the AACS. He was formerly employed at Connecticut Light & Power Co., first as a cable splicer and later as a switching supervisor, before retiring in 1986. Philip was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a member of Unity Lodge #148, and the Senior Center. He served as a Boy Scout leader for over 30 years, and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, which was presented by Governor Thomas Meskill. Philip enjoyed playing cards, hiking, fishing, reading, and baking bread. Surviving are two daughters, Dale Martha Floros Turner of Lebanon, IN, and Cynthia Lee Floros Kellerstedt of Waterford, and two sons, Philip James Floros of New Britain, and Robert Charles Floros of St. David, PA; two sisters, Martha Gajewski of N. Eastham, MA, and Naomi Crouch of Middletown; five grandchildren, Mitchell Turner and his wife Sandy, Laura Corbett and her husband Tim, Brett Kellerstedt, Brian Floros, Tim Floros and his wife Amanda, and Rebecca Floros; and two great-granddaughters, Alexandra Nicole Turner and Abby Corbett; and one great-grandson, Nate Corbett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, which he all loved dearly. He was predeceased by four brothers, Joel Floros, Dimitri Floros, Charles Floros, and Robert Floros; and three sisters, Cora Thibodeau, Sofia Gasparini, and Alainie Nevilas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Visitation will be held Saturday morning from 10:30 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
