Peter Lloyd Belmont Austin, 65, of New Britain departed this world on Saturday, March 6, 2004 after a long illness. He was born in New Britain and was employed as a groundskeeper with the City of New Britain for the past 16 years. He was a man of many talents and was at his happiest with nature. He was a great conversationalist and will be remembered for his animated talks. He is survived by a son, Peter Austin II of New Britain, two daughters, Kimberly Bianca of Kensington and Allyson Austin of New Britain; three granddaughters, Sarah and Heather Bianca of Kensington and Brianna Austin of Burlington; a sister, Helene Carbone of New Britain; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Cynthia Fusco of Cheshire. He was predeceased by a brother, Fred B. Austin Jr., of Jewitt City, and by two sisters, Linda Scheer of Middletown and Patricia Child of Southington. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Maurice Church. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
