Paul Mancarella, 61, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Born in Hartford, he was the son of Caroline DelValle of New Britain and the late Paul Mancarella. He was a New Britain resident most of his life and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. Paul was a member of St. Joseph Church, the American Legion where he served as a former Commander, and the V.F.W. Paul loved to fish and enjoyed bowling. Surviving are his mother, Caroline DelValle; five brothers and sisters, Isabelle Vardanian of Michigan, Marc DelValle of New Britain, Michael DelValle of Vernon, Lori DelValle and Tami DelValle, both of New Britain, and Abigail Rediker of Newington; a sister-in-law, Kim Mancarella Goldberg; many cousins including Cindy Fortin; many nieces and nephews including John and Angelina Mancarella; and many friends. Paul was predeceased by a brother, Michael Mancarella; his grandmother, Agatha Cassidy; nephews Bobby DelValle and Michael Vardanian; and his beloved cat, Buddy. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
