Pamela Margaret Cassolino Taricani, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 27, 2010 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She was 58. Known for most of her life as Peggy, she was born in New Britain on March 18, 1952 to the late Albert Cassolino and Joan Hallberg Cassolino. She attended St. Mary School and graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1970. Peggy was certified as an emergency medical technician at CCSU and was formerly employed as an EMT by Professional Ambulance of West Hartford. She was also formerly employed as a CNA at the Walnut Hill Care Center in New Britain. Peggy has been a longtime, devoted parishioner at St. Mary Church. For the past seven years, Peggy has served as a very dedicated volunteer five afternoons a week at the Friendship Service Center of New Britain, assisting in the kitchen and serving the prepared meals. Peggy leaves to mourn her passing the greatest joy of her life, her beloved daughter, Jill Marie Taricani, of Southington. She also leaves her brother, Danny Cassolino, of Wethersfield and her sisters and their spouses, Debbie and Dr. Richard Smith of Rhode Island, Mary-Lynn and Fred Monsees of New Britain, and Gerianne and Jim Casey of Texas. Peggy is also survived by her devoted aunt, Sylvia Gosselin, of Southington, her niece, nephews, cousins and many friends at the Friendship Center. She also leaves two special friends who were very dear to her; David Welch of Ohio and Mary O'Brien of New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 544 Main St., New Britain. Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in Peggy's memory to the Friendship Service Center, 241-149 Arch St., New Britain, 06050-1896. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Nellie Dubay of C-5 for the exceptional love and care she showed to Peggy Sue.
