Oronzo J. DeNigris, 95, of New Britain, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020 at Grandview Healthcare Center.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Dominic DeNigris and Rose (DiBrindisi) DeNigris. Oronzo was an Army Veteran of World War II, stationed in Europe and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifelong New Britain resident and was formerly employed at the Connecticut Department of Transportation for over 30 years.
Oronzo was a master gardener, and was well know for growing organic vegetables and distributing them to his neighbors. He was a member of St. Ann’s Church and the YMCA Health Club for over 50 years, where he enjoyed playing racquetball and swimming.
Surviving are his brother, Atty. Nicholas DeNigris and his wife Patricia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Emanuele D. DeNigris; and a sister-in-law, Elaine DeNigris.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Ann’s Church, New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
