Norman Carl Ringquist

Norman Carl Ringquist, 85, of New Britain, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005 at Hartford Hospital. He was the widower of Gladys Oelkuct Ringquist who died in 1999. Born in Newington, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Ringquist. Norman grew up on the family farm in Newington. He was a resident of New Britain for over 60 years and was formerly employed as a steel worker at Stanley Works, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the New Britain Senior Center, the Svea Social Club, the Stanley Retirees, and was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Linda Ringquist of New Britain; a daughter and son-in-law, Audrey Munday and Dennis VanZilen, Sr. of Danbury; a sister, Janice Young of Weems, VA; five grandchildren, Matthew VanZilen, Devin VanZilen, Sherri Ballargeon and her husband Dan, Lisa Ringquist, Scott Ringquist and his wife Lynne; three great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tyler and Thomas Ringquist; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain at 10am. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Britain Senior Center.
