Nicholas George Valenti, 77, of New Britain, husband of Helen (Lange) Valenti, passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 28, 2012. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Gasper and Anna (Zotter) Valenti. He was a long time Wallingford, CT resident and lived in Charlestown, RI for one year before moving back to New Britain in 2000. Nicholas was a U.S. Army Veteran and was employed as a manager at SNET before retiring. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Pioneers Club of SNET and the Handy Man's Club. Nick was known among family and friends as "Mr. Fix It". He was able to fix anything. He had many skills including auto mechanics, electric and plumbing projects, and even wallpapering. Nick was known for his wit and loved to tell jokes. He was an avid tennis player and enjoyed motorcycles. He and Helen loved their summers in Rhode Island, swimming at Blue Shutters, East Beach and enjoyed many wonderful times there. In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by a son, Mark Valenti; a daughter Kathleen Reeve and her husband John; two grandchildren, Caleb Reeve and Tyler Reeve; a brother, Richard L. Valenti and his wife Ruth, all of New Britain; and a sister, Leonora Cooper and her husband David of Colchester. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy Bregonzio, Harry Bregonzio and Walter J. Lange. Nick loved his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. A reception will immediately follow the service at church in the church auditorium. There are no calling hours.
