Nicholas Labas, 92, formerly of Kensington, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Masonicare at Newtown. He was the husband of the late Marjorie Lamont Labas. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late John and Mary Kapnicky Labas. Nicholas lived in Kensington for many years and was employed at Southern New England Telephone Company before retiring. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of World War II and was a member of Kensington Congregational Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Janice Labas of Brookfield, Roger and Linda Labas of Greenville, SC; a granddaughter, Jennifer Miller and her husband Steven of Brookfield; a great-grandson, Alexander Miller; and a great-granddaughter, Dylan Miller. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Kensington Congregational Church. Burial will be held privately at West Lane Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nick's name to the Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Ave., Kensington, CT 06037.
