Nerses Derderian, 88, of Farmington, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Bloomfield, he was the son of the late Nazareth and Noyem (Hougasian) Derderian. He was a resident of Bloomfield, CT, Boca Raton, FL and Delray Beach, FL before moving to Farmington 14 years ago. Nerses was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II who served combat duty aboard the USS Conner . He was formerly employed as a master printer at Travelers Insurance Co. before retiring. He was a member of the senior group and mens club at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection and was a member of the Knights of Vartan where he previously served as Commander. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Derderian and by a grandson, Michael Derderian. Surviving are a daughter , Linda Karpiej and her husband Robert of Torrington; a son, Richard Derderian and his wife Elaine of Enfield; a brother, Aris Derderian of West Hartford; seven grandchildren, David, Jason, Glenn, Tyler, Courtney, Madison, and Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Meghan, and Dylan; loving companion, Patricia Buttero; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain and at 11:00 AM at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. Burial, with military honors, will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
