With deep love and sorrow, we celebrate the life of Nereida lovingly nicknamed Rai, an extraordinarily strong, intelligent, and determined woman whose love and resilience touched everyone who knew her.
Rai was the kind of person who made things happen. Creative and hardworking, she often turned her talents into crafting businesses and side ventures, always finding ways to provide, build, and create a better future for her family. She was resourceful, ambitious, and deeply devoted to those she loved.
Above all else, Rai was a proud and loving mother. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Samantha, Destiny, and Julissa, and her son, Jerry. She was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth and son Allen.
In addition to her children, Rai leaves behind her father, Luis H. Joya; siblings, Karolyn (Kevin), Luis (Beatriz), Manuela and Benjamin; and many cherished family members and dear friends who will carry her memory forward.
Rai dedicated much of her professional life to serving others through various roles in healthcare, where she worked with compassion and purpose. Helping people was not simply her career—it reflected the kindness and strength of who she was at heart.
Rai fought a long and courageous battle with polycystic kidney disease, facing every challenge with remarkable strength, determination, and grace. She gave everything she had, showing the same fighting spirit that defined her entire life.
Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, Rai’s legacy of perseverance, love, creativity, and devotion will live on through her children, family, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
