Nelson Ruiz

Nelson Ruiz, 67, of New Britain, husband of Alida Arroyo Ruiz, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Hartford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan Concepcion Ruiz and Juanita Rivera. He was a resident of New Britain for over 45 years and was a member of St. Mary Church. Nelson was a giving person, always a generous and gracious host to guests in his home. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, watching the Yankees games and cooking. Surviving are his wife, Alida Arroyo Ruiz; six children, Nelson Ruiz Jr., Bill Ruiz, and Julio A. Ruiz, Aida I. Seidl, Marcelino Vega, and Alexis Vega; his older brother Carlos Ruiz with whom he had a close and special relationship; his sisters, Elba Ruiz Melendez, Sonia Colon, Theresa Arroyo, and Maria Ruiz; ten grandchildren, Liza Ruiz, Nelson N. Ruiz, Layla Ruiz, Nathanael Ruiz, Arianna S. Ruiz, Genesia M. Santiago, Gabriella H. Seidl, Alexa V. Vega, Tatiana A. Vega and Dylan James Vega; a great-grandson, Jaiden I. Ruiz; many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 7-9 PM.
