Nelson Marrero

Nelson Marrero, 59, of New Britain, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at St. Mary Hospital in Waterbury. Born in Bronx, NY, he was a New Britain resident for 20 years and was well known as a vocalist with his own orchestra. He was a member of St. Mary Church. Surviving are wife, Maritza Marrero, his children, Nelson "Hazel" Marrero and Nelson "Negri" Marrero, Patricia, SueEllen, and Angella Marrero; and step-children, Jacqueline Torres and Dante Sepulveda; his mother, Victoria Vicenti; seven brothers; seven sisters; eighteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his father, Benjamin Marrero, and a son, Benjamin Marrero. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are at ST. MARY CHURCH, 544 Main St., New Britain on Thursday from 6-8 PM.
