Nancy E. Sager, 87, a former long time resident of Farmington, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020 at Covenant Living in Cromwell, CT. She was the wife of Ralph L. Sager for 64 years, whom she met at summer camp as teenagers, and was the mother of three children.
Nancy was born in Arlington Ma., daughter of Charles and Frida Lindestrand who were Swedish immigrants. She was predeceased by her one sister Dorothy. In addition to her husband Ralph, Nancy is survived by her children, Ronald Sager and his wife Tori, Sandra Dichner and her husband Ronald, all of Farmington CT, and son Douglas Sager and his wife Hilde of Northbrook Il. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandson.
Nancy maintained an active life following her education at North Park College and Boston University with a degree in education. She earned a masters degree in special education and worked 30 years in the West Hartford school system. Her spare time was spent in Christian education activities for her church, as a member of the board of directors for The Friendship Center in New Britain CT, and as member of the board of directors for The Children’s Home of Cromwell CT. Nancy loved crafts, music, tennis and travel. She retired in 1997. Anyone who knew Nancy will remember her for her loving, kind and giving heart.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be planned for the spring, due to the restrictions of the current pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be sent to the benevolent care fund of Covenant Living of Cromwell CT., Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin CT., or Pilgrim Pines Conference Center in West Swanzey NH.
