Modesta Rodriguez

Modesta Rodriguez, 82, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home, Saturday, February 20, 2021.   Modesta, was born June 15, 1938, in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico.  Modesta, was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Bienvenido Rodriguez of 54 years.  She was the daughter of the late Petra Font and Juan Rodriguez.  She lived in New Britain, Conn., later moving to Detroit in 1984.

Modesta is survived by her children, Hector Rodriguez of Detroit, Natividad Melendez of West Haven, Conn., Rosa Rodriguez of Newington, Conn; ten grandchildren; twleve great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by five sisters, Amelia Santos of Conn, Carmen Lydia Garcia of New Jersey, Josefina Cruz of North Carolina, Juana Rodriguez of Puerto Rico, and Rosa Rodriguez of Florida; and her brother Juan Rodriguez of Puerto Rico.  Modesta, was predeceased by her son, Luis Rodriguez, two brothers, Jose Rodriguez and Marcelino Rodriguez.

Modesta, enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes at home and often had a competitive side.  Always, kind and loving and made everyone feel at home.  She was God fearing and a member of the Iglesia La Bendicion in Detriot Mi, and also a member of Iglesia Christiana Pentecostal of New Britain, CT.

Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at Risko-Ferguson Funeral Home, 7100 Michigan Ave., Detriot, Michigan.   Additional calling hours will held on Friday from 11 am to 1:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain.
