Mildred “Millie” Gelmini, 87, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of William P. Gelmini.
Born in New Britain she was the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline (Adorno) Silluzio. Millie was a lifelong Kensington resident. She graduated from Berlin High School. She was formerly employed at Creed Monarch for 25 years as the Production and Material Control Specialist before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul Church of Berlin and the St. Sophie Society.
Millie loved to spend time cooking dinners for her family and friends. She enjoyed going to the casino, swimming and travelling especially to Las Vegas and Aruba.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula Orsini and her husband Tony of Charlestown, RI, Laura Persaud and her husband Gan of Rocky Hill; two grandchildren, Kristin Cobb and her husband Chad, and Jason Persaud; and two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Nora. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Mazzatto of Berlin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM at St. Paul Church. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Friday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospital for Special Care, New Britain, CT.
