Miguel Valentin

Miguel “Mike” Valentin, 84, of New Britain, passed away on January 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Francisco Valentin and Josefa (Serrano) Valentin.  Miguel was a New Britain resident for over 60 years and was formerly employed at Marlin Rockwell.  He was also employed in the family arcade and clothing businesses.  Miguel was a founding member, and Vice President of the Puerto Rican Society of New Britain.  An avid sports fan, Miguel enjoyed bowling, fishing, and sponsored a softball team.  He loved to watch his NY Mets.  He will be greatly missed by many friends and members of the community.

Miguel was a dedicated, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.  Surviving are: his son, Mickey Valentin and his wife Delia of New Britain; a daughter, Jenny V. Correa of New Britain; five grandchildren, Serina Segura, Alberto & Nicolas Correa, Taimyra Morales, and Michael Valentin IV; and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Hector “Don Ye” Valentin; three sisters, Bienvenida Coredero, Maria Moore, and Irma Valentin.  He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.

His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Chang and the nursing staff of the Cancer Center of Central CT.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church.  Burial will be in the family plot at St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
