Miguel A. Ortiz, 52, of New Britain, died Monday, August 9, 2004 at Hartford Hospital. He was the son of Crispiliano Ortiz of Naranjito, Puerto Rico and the late Adela Ortiz. Born in Puerto Rico, he lived in New Britain for most of his life. Miguel was a member of St. Mary Church in New Britain and also attended St. Joseph Church in Bristol. He was involved in various prayer groups at church and a participant in the dialysis and transplant group at Hartford Hospital. In addition to his father, he is survived by his son Rafael Ortiz and his wife Johanna; his grandchildren Arianna, Favian, and Jaileen; seven brothers and sisters; Rosa Ortiz, Teresa Ortiz, Elba Ortiz, Olga Ortiz, Milagros Ortiz, Anibal Ortiz, and Carlos Ortiz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to Elba, Olga, Rosa, Teresa and Milagros who devoted themselves in taking care of their brother. He was a very strong person with amazing courage, a warrior of life. His unwavering faith carried us all. Miguel lived life to the fullest and left accepting his departure as the Lord called him home. He was a very special person to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Mary Church, New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 7-9 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
