Miguel Dejesus Montanez

Miguel DeJesus Montanez, resident of New Britain since 1969 passed away on February 11th, surrounded by family. Miguel was born to Ricardo DeJesus and Juana Montanez in Carolina, Puerto Rico on January 8th 1938. The youngest of 9 children, he was pre deceased by 6 brothers, two sisters and his Son Miguel Jr.

Miguel was a proud Army veteran, having served in the Korean War.

Miguel worked at Pratt & Whitney, in the Small Tools Division in West Hartford, followed by New Britain Machine, HPM and Integrated Industrial System from which he eventually retired. Miguel enjoyed working, so he came out of retirement and became the building superintendent for South Congregational Church where he worked for an additional 10 years .

He was an active member of South Church and enjoyed to work out at the New Britain YMCA.

He is survived by his wife Carmen of 53 years, his daughter Lillian DeJesus of New Britain and his son Richard DeJesus of Reading, Pennsylvania, his granddaughters Desiree Rivera and Husband Steven Rivera and Demilee Agosto. Four great grand children Imilio, Leandro, Sofia and Camila.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain and at 11 AM at South Church.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Monday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
