Michele Prisco

Michele “Mike” Prisco, 76, of New Britain, husband of Michela Prisco, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Naples, Italy, he was the son of the late Stefano and Maria Grazia (Maganillo) Prisco.  He was a New Britain resident since 1973 and was employed at Plainville Casting.  He also worked part time with several shoe makers and in 1994 purchased a shoe repair business and opened Mike’s Modern Shoe Repair, which was located on Arch St. in New Britain.  Over time, he developed many loyal customers who became good friends.

Mike was a member of St. Ann’s Church and was a former member of Generale Ameglio Society.  He enjoyed playing cards, gardening, making wine, cooking, walking, the beach, and fishing.  He looked forward to family gatherings and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Michela (Grasso) Prisco; his children, Stefano Prisco of Italy, Giovanni Prisco (Theresa) of Harwinton, Angelo Prisco (Maria) of Avon, and Maria Szafranski  (Arthur) of Berlin; two sisters, Caroline Prisco and Stefanie Esposito; a sister-in-law, Josephine Prisco; thirteen grandchildren, Stefano Delgado, Michele Prisco, Alisia Prisco, Gianna Prisco, Giovanni Prisco, Colagio Prisco, Nicco Prisco, Isabella Prisco, Michael Prisco, Natalia Prisco, Ava Szafranski, Mia Szafranski, and Gabriel Szafranski; a great granddaughter, Isabella Casiano; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew Prisco, and a sister, Maria Prisco.
