Michael N. Karbownik

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Nicholas Karbownik, of East Berlin, CT, who died peacefully at home on December 22nd 2025 with his wife and family by his side. He was born August 3, 1951 in New Britain, CT. He will be missed by so many people, including his doctors, and those who saw him around town at Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts. He was taken away from us too soon, but we know he's at peace with God.

Growing up in New Britain all his life, he started working on cars, and went on to be a carpenter and foreman with Local 24 here in Connecticut. He also built a couple of homes during his career.

He loved hot rods, antique cars, and Corvettes. He especially loved rebuilding engines like in the 1970 Chevelle and 1955 Chevy Delray. He once bought a 1970 Chevelle from an auction in Binghamton, NY and put it on his trailer and brought it back here! Michael loved going to Lenny and Joe's and Stowe’s Seafood on Sundays. He made sure to always have his oysters, crab cakes and shrimp.

He met his wife Jean at the Chowder Pot in Hartford in 2002 and they married in 2006. His son Kevin loved motorcross and Michael supported him all the way. They traveled all over for it, including all around New England and New York. They went everywhere!

Michael is survived by his wife, Jean; his sons, Kevin of East Berlin and Michael Jr. of New Haven; his ex-wife and friend, Karen Bellini; a grandson, Liam of Berlin; and a granddaughter, Mariah of Virginia. He was predeceased by his son, Kris and his parents.

No words can say how much he will be missed, but we know he's watching over us from heaven. Services were private, and the family welcomes you to share a memory here in his online guest book.
