Michael “Mike” Angelo Chieffo, 85, of Rocky Hill, husband of Anna Chieffo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019.
Born in Bagnoli Irpino, Italy, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Desabetto) Chieffo. Mike served in the Italian military. He was a former New Britain and Newington resident before moving to Rocky Hill. Prior to his retirement, he was a mechanic with his brother-in-law. He retired from New Britain Machine at the age of 58 and enjoyed his retirement years with his family.
His passion was working in his garden and growing vegetables for his grandchildren. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed long walks in the woods, picking mushrooms and teaching everyone how to pick the right ones. He enjoyed watching soccer games, especially Napoli. Mike touched so many lives along the way. Everyone called him “Uncle Mike” even if they were not part of his family. He always looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Anna (Miele) Chieffo; two daughters, Anna Maria Bryant of Newington and Patricia Alessandra and her husband Claudio Alessandra of Berlin; a sister and brother-in-law, Tina and Ezio Capozzi of Plainville; a brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Susan Chieffo of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Adriana Bryant, Alex Bryant, John Alessandra, Julia Alessandra and Jillian Alessandra; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Chieffo, and by a sister, Rosalia Preziuso.
