Maxine F. Paonessa

Maxine F. Brossart Paonessa, 90, of New Britain, widow of the late Joseph N. Paonessa, passed away November 30, 2007. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 5, 1917, and was the youngest daughter of the late John A. and Florence Pugh Brossart. Maxine earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Purdue University and practiced in several hospitals before her marriage in 1946. She helped manager her husband's construction business while her boys were young, and was later employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Revenue for 24 years before her retirement at age 78. She was also previously employed as a social worker in New York, NY. Maxine was a 50-year member of South Church in New Britain, and was quite active in church service, having served on several boards at church. She was also a member of the Women's College Club of New Britain. She is survived by her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Nicholas J. Paonessa of New Britain and Charles and Lecia Paonessa of Berlin; her grandchildren, Heidi, Nicole, Joseph, Sarah, Michael, Robert and his wife Christine; her most beloved sister, June Brossart Blair, age 94, of Indianapolis, IN; several sister and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at South Church, 90 Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8 PM and Tuesday morning from 10-10:30 AM At Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.
