Mattie R. Turner

Mattie R. Turner, 63, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. Born in Dawson, GA, she was the daughter of the late Simmie and Mazzie Little Dotson. Mattie has been a long time New Britain resident moving from Georgia 40 years ago. She worked at Fenn Manufacturing in Newington as a Machinist for 25 years. Mattie enjoyed volunteering her time and talents with Foodshare. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church. She was very devoted neighbor. Surviving are her three daughters and a son-in-law, Sherlinda Turner Barnum and her husband Johnny, Victoria and Raynette Turner, all of New Britain, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mattie was predeceased by her son Travis Kennard Turner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm at the New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church First Church of Christ building, 830 Corbin Ave., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
