Maryanne Hegg

Maryanne Hegg, beloved wife of Richard Hegg, has gone to be with her Lord after a short illness. Maryanne was born on September 30, 1927 to Wallace and Fern Wennberg Johnson in Jamestown, New York. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1945, and was married in 1949 to Richard Hegg her high school sweetheart. In 1958, they relocated to Plainville, Connecticut and eventually settled in Kensington. While she was in Plainville, Maryanne was an active member in the Pymeggers and the Jr. Women’s Club, where she was head of the dental program for children. Maryanne also worked for many years as office manager for Plainville Manufacturing. She was a long time member of Bethany Covenant Church serving on many committees and as treasurer of Covenant Women. The church, along with her family played a most important role in her life. Besides her loving husband of 58 years, Maryanne is survived by her four children: Dr. James Hegg and wife Barbara of Kensington, daughter Kathleen Salomone and husband Dr. Donald of Southington, son Daniel of Plainville and Myrtle Beach and his fiancée Hahn Fort, and daughter Christine Mildrum and husband Christopher of Berlin. She is also leaving behind her seven grandchildren: Kimberly and Brian Hegg, Krista and her husband Matt Bydlak, Timothy and Peter Salomone, and Nathan and Andrew Mildrum, as well as four nieces, and a sister-in-law Marion Johnson of Greenhurst, New York. She also leaves two dear cousins, Priscilla Burns of Lehigh Acres, FL and Barbara Way of Northeast, PA. Maryanne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert, who was her only sibling. Maryanne loved camping with her family, especially at Pilgrim Pines, New Hampshire. Once the children had grown, Maryanne and her husband traveled extensively to Europe, Scandinavia, England, and Israel. They loved cross-country skiing and took many trips to Norway with their close friends. In later years, they enjoyed cruising to Alaska as well as the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, spending time in Myrtle Beach and Florida. A special thanks to Michelle, oncology nurse at St. Francis Care Cancer Center, and to Sister Jilda Marie Chabot, RN, of the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, for their support and care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 11:00 am at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are on Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethany Covenant Church Memorial Garden, 785 Mill St., Berlin, CT 06037.
