Mary Urbanowicz Zukowski, 82, of New Britain, widow of Edward J. ''Cookie'' Zukowski, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at Brittany Farms Health Center. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Tekla Kaminski Urbanowicz. She was a life-long New Britain resident and was formerly employed by the US Government at the Newington Veterans Administration Hospital, retiring in 1985. She was also formerly employed at Sears. Mary was a member of St. Jerome Church, the Holy Name Society, and formerly taught religious education classes at St. Jerome Church. Surviving are her beloved son Edward ''Ned'' Zukowski and his wife Maureen of Berlin; two loving grandchildren, Erik and Sara Zukowski; a sister, Helen Horbal of Colchester, her sisters-in-law, Stella Zukowski, Helen Zukowski, Julie Yoast, Jennie Atwood, and Ann Baker; her brothers-in-law, Aldo Ciapponi and Henry Zukowski; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Urbanowicz, and by three sisters, Anastasia ''Nellie'' Petock, Jennifer ''Terry'' Downs, and Ann Ciapponi. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Jerome Church.
