Mary Janet Tiezzi, 87, of Newington, CT and Fort Myers, FL, wife of Angelo James "Jim" Tiezzi, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in Boston, MA on April 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Martin and Katherine Collins Daley, and the wife of the late Edward McMurray. She was a resident of Scituate, MA before moving to Florida, and later divided her time between Fort Myers, FL and Newington, CT. Janet was employed as a sales supervisor at Domino Sugar. She was a member of St. Columbkille's Church in Florida and The Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington. She also was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW and the American Legion. Janet was an avid Red Sox fan, a crossword puzzle aficionado and enjoyed reading and travelling. In addition to her husband, Angelo James "Jim" Tiezzi, she is survived by two stepsons, Thomas Tiezzi and his wife Patricia of Wethersfield, Alan Tiezzi and his wife Janet of Dunstable, MA; her grandchildren, Melissa Pearson and her husband Eric of Pepperell, MA, Kathryn Tiezzi of Dunstable, MA, Grace Tiezzi and Hope Tiezzi, both of Wethersfield. Janet was awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild in October. Janet is also survived by a brother-in-law, Benjamin Tiezzi and his wife Lydia of Meriden; her godson, Brian Sullivan; and a close friend, Theresa Sullivan and her family of Scituate, MA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at The Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
