Mary J. Serafin

Mary J. Serafin, 87, of New Britain, died peacefully on Friday, March 12, 2004 at Brittany Farms Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Edmund Serafin. Born in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Olszanski Benn. She was a former Berlin resident and resident of New Britain for the past 25 years. Mary was formerly employed in the office at New Britain General Hospital for 40 years and also worked at Ledgecrest Convalescent Home for 10 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Surviving are her dear loving companion of 25 years, John Elliotte Sr. and his daughter Patti Elliotte of New Britain; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Martin and Linda Serafin of Berlin and Thomas Serafin of New Britain; a sister, Helen Benn Morelli of Old Saybrook and Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ann Benn of New Britain; several grandchildren an great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. on Wednesday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, Ct 06106.
