Mary Josephine McGraw, 82, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and formerly of Newington, Connecticut passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. She was born on May 1, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Thomas and Marianna (Lombardo) McGurty.
Along with her parents, Mary is reunited in passing with her husband Kenneth McGraw.
Mary cherished time spent with her family and friends, especially her two grandchildren. She loved days at the beach and by the pool, listening to Motown and oldies music, attending live shows, chatting on the phone, and enjoying an occasional Irish coffee. Mary was well known for hosting many Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day gatherings, and for her famous corned beef dinner. For thirty years, she provided home daycare and found great joy in being around children. A woman of deep faith, Mary loved attending Mass and spending quiet time in prayer and reflection.
Mary was the devoted mother of Shaun McGraw and his wife Concetta of Myrtle Beach, SC and Laurie McGraw of New Orleans, LA; loving grandmother of two grandchildren, Jonathan and Sophia McGraw; beloved sister of Marian Summers (Paul), Thomas McGurty and his wife Cheryl, Nancy Mugford (Peter), and Theresa McGuirk and her husband Jimmy; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a large, loving, extended family with many supportive friends and neighbors.
