Mary D. Klukas

Mary D. Klukas, 97, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14 ^th at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was the wife of the late Arnold Klukas and enjoyed 58 years of marriage with him before his passing in 2004.

Born in Rocky Hill, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Molly (Bennett) Dowling. Mary and her husband raised their family in New Britain where they lived for 58 years. Mary moved to Berlin in 2007, living there for 14 years before returning to New Britain in 2021. Mary was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain where she had served on the Outreach Committee for many years. She was a member of the “Quilting Circle” and enjoyed playing bingo and pinochle with her friends.

Surviving are her two sons, Rev. Dr. Arnold W. Klukas and his wife Dr. Carol, of Halifax, MA, Richard A. Klukas and his wife Pamela of New Britain, CT; her daughter, Nancy L. Klukas of New Britain, CT; four grandchildren, Rev. Christopher and Rev. Carrie Klukas of Middleburg, FL, Dr. Jeffrey and Karen Klukas of Worthington, OH, Kathryn and Kenneth Goodrich III of Bristol, CT and Sarah and David Judge of Brooklyn, NY; 11 and soon to be 12 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Kathy Strietelmeier and her husband Michael, Norah Furlong and her husband William and Mary Dowling as well as many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 18 ^th from 4-6 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain, CT 06051. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT 06051.
