Mary A. Ferris

Mary A. Ferris, 98, of Newington, widow of Robert E. Ferris, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Jefferson House in Newington.

Born in Delphos, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Grace and Ivalo I. (Weaver) Grace.  Mary was a U.S. Navy Veteran.  She was a Newington resident since 2002 and was a proud member of the Newington Senior Center.  She was a life member of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, and was a life member of the V.F.W.  Mary was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and was a military hospital volunteer.

Surviving are two sons, Robert A. Ferris and his wife Mary of Newington, Danal W. Ferris of Beverly Hills, CA.; two grandchildren, Matthew Ferris and his wife Michele of Columbia, and Elizabeth Gauvin and her husband Paul of Enfield; and many nieces and nephews including Pamela Ferris-Jones and Richard Ferris, both of Florida.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, John R. Ferris.

The family would like to thank Mary’s many friends from the Senior Center who extended much love and care.  At Mary’s request, funeral services will be private.
