Marvin A. Anderson, 81, of Cromwell passed away Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010. He was the beloved husband of June Highfield Anderson for 47 years. Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Alfred P. and Lillian Lindquist Anderson. Marvin was a resident of Plainville where he was a Boy Scout and graduated from Plainville High School. He was also a longtime resident of Farmington before moving to Cromwell nine years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Marvin was a very active member of Trinity Covenant Church in Plainville where he was the Sunday School superintendant, church chairman, choir member, youth leader and Sunday School teacher. He joined Aetna Life Insurance Co. in Hartford in 1957 as an auditor, serving there until his retirement in 1990. Marvin enjoyed gardening and traveling locally as well as internationally. He loved the outdoors, hiking and camping. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Lisa Anderson of Bedford, N.H., his daughter and son-in-law, Linnea and David Pearson of St. Helena, Calif.; his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and the Rev. James Silver; five grandchildren; a nephew and a niece. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Forestville Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours will be Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
