Miss Marjorie L. Steiner, 99 passed away at her home in Avon on Wednesday, June 24th. Marjorie was a life-long resident of New Britain. She was born on October 3, 1915 in her home in New Britain and was the daughter of the late Frank C. Steiner and Molly L. Conopask. Marjorie was predeceased by her sisters, Mabel S. Fraser and her husband David, and Frances M. Pietrick and her husband John. Marjorie leaves a niece, Nancy Cardello and her husband Barry, and nephews, A. David Fraser, III and John F. Pietrick and his wife Robin. She also leaves six grand nieces and grand nephews, Marjorie Beck and her husband Donald, Lisa Gdovin and her fiancée James Blackey, Jenna Gray and her husband William, Jill Lawson and her husband Joshua, A. David Fraser, IV and his wife Marilee and Stephen Cardello and his wife Elizabeth. Marjorie also leaves 10 great grand nieces and nephews. Marjorie's joy was her family and was always most pleased when she would hear from them and receive visits. Pictures of the great grand nieces and nephews were a special joy to her. Marjorie also leaves a number of cousins, many who have remained in close touch with her throughout her life. These include Mrs. Louise Ferguson, Mrs. Carol Hansen, and Mrs. Dottie Morgan. Marjorie was the owner of Marjorie's Beauty Salon which was located on West Main Street in New Britain and which she ran for 43 years until her retirement at age 78 in 1993. Marjorie was a graduate of New Britain High School and was a long time member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain, serving on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Quilters Club. Marjorie is also mourned by the family of the late Mrs. Bertha Johnson who graduated from the Hartford Academy of Hairdressing with Marjorie. They remained in close contact with each other until her passing at age 99 in 2013. Calling hours will be at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main Street, New Britain on Sunday, June 28th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St. New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
