Marjorie (Eckhart) Shay, 80, of Southington, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2013 at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. She was the widow of Allan R. Shay. Born in Westfield, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Theresa (Graenor) Eckhart. Marjorie was a longtime Darien resident before moving to Southington 10 years ago. She was a member of Noroton Presbyterian Church of Darien where she sang in the Choir for over 20 years. She also arranged the flowers for the church for many years. Marjorie volunteered much of her time delivering Meals on Wheels and working at Book Aid in Darien. She was an avid gardener, reader and enjoyed participating in the local Darien Bowling League. In her later years she spent a lot of time crocheting beautiful custom blankets for all of her children and grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by her two sons, Bob Shay of Chicago, IL and Dave Shay of Beacon Falls, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Frank Molgano of Burlington, Pam and Matthew Clark of Baltimore, MD, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Barbara Eckhart of Highland Lakes, NJ and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was predeceased by her two brothers, Arnold Eckhart, Jr. and Walter Eckhart. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Rd, Darien, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.
