Marjorie E. Kanupka Gonsalves, 75, of New Britain, wife of Alfred R. Gonsalves, died peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002 at Brittany Farms Health Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Kensington, she was the daughter of the late George Kanupka, Sr. and Magdalene Siegrist Kanupka. She was a graduate of Berlin High School and Moody Business School. She was a New Britain resident since 1950 and was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at the YWCA, New Britain Spring Co., and Reflexite. Marjorie was a member of the Kensington United Methodist Church, the Women's Society at church, and was a long time choir member. She was a member of the Berlin Sisters in Quilting Group and the Doe Re Mommies Choral Group. She particularly enjoyed sewing, quilting and singing. Marjorie was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her husband Alfred, she is survived by a son, Frederick G. Gonsalves and his wife Janice of Kensington; a daughter, Rebecca G. Weller and her husband Earl of Glastonbury; four grandchildren, Alan Moore and his fiancee Brooke Matthews of Charlotte NC, Andrew Moore of Marlborough, Daniel Gonsalves and Diane Gonsalves, both of Kensington; a close friend, Anna Pac; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Henry Kanupka. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain and at 10:00 AM at the Kensington United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Music Fund at Kensington United Methodist Church, 103 Hotchkiss St., Kensington, CT 06037. The family would like to thank the staff at Brittany Farms for their loving and tender care given to Marjorie in her final days.
