Mario Alicea

Mario Alicea, 51, of New Britain, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.

Born in New York, NY, he was the son of Mariano Alicea and Marta (Maldonado) Alicea.  He was a New Britain resident most of his life and was employed at Mott Corporation in Plainville.  He was a devoted member of St. Mary Church and was involved in many church activities and events, especially with church musical groups.

Surviving are his parents, Mariano and Marta Alicea; five children, Cynthia Alicea, Mariano Alicea, Mario Alicea, Steven Alicea, and Mariah Alicea; a sister, Mari Alicea; two brothers, Jimmy Alicea and Larry Alicea; four grandchildren; his girlfriend, Clara Placensia; and his former wife, Maria Aviles.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church.  Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Monday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
