Marie Emily Knaus

Marie Emily Eckert Knaus, 88, of Newington passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at home. She was the widow of George Knaus who died in 1985. Born in Middlefield, CT she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emilie Wilk Eckert. Marie attended New Britain schools. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in New Britain, the Newington Senior Center, and AARP. Surviving are her two daughters, Karen Barr and her husband David of Newington and Cheryl Spack and her husband Robert of East Hampton; a son, Michael Knaus of Palm Bay, FL; six grandchildren, Francis Barr and his wife Chris of Farmington, Heather Hall and her husband Troy of East Hampton, Jessica Barr of Middletown, Jill Knaus of Sparta, NJ, Brian Spack of East Hampton, and Emily Knaus of Arlington, VA; five great- grandchildren, Mackenzie Rosano, David Barr, Stephanie Barr, Troy Hall, Jr., and Meaghan Hall; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran School, 87 Franklin Square, New Britain 06051.
