Maria Teresa (Citino) Verrillo entered into eternal life on Friday, July 24, 2026.
Born on November 20, 1936, in Torre di Ruggiero, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy, she was the beloved daughter of the late Francesco Antonio Citino and Elisabetta Maria (Cristello) Citino.
Teresa worked as a dressmaker in Italy before immigrating to New Britain, Connecticut, where she married the love of her life, Anthony Verrillo. Together they began their life in New Britain, both working in manufacturing. Anthony was employed by Stanley Works, and Teresa worked for Fafnir. Later, Teresa became a devoted homemaker while also operating a successful home-based business.
Teresa was known for her exceptional cooking, generous hospitality, and unwavering kindness. Although she and Anthony longed to have children of their own, that was not God's plan for them. Instead, they found countless ways to share their love by serving as devoted spiritual parents, loving aunt and uncle, cherished godparents, and faithful sponsors to many. Together, they exemplified the beauty of Christian marriage through their kindness, generosity, and deep faith. Their Catholic faith was the foundation of their lives. Teresa now joins the Church Triumphant in Heaven, reunited with her beloved husband and all those who have gone before her.
She was a faithful and active member of St. Ann Church, the Società del Sacro Cuore, the St. Ann Italian Choir, and the Società Buona Fortuna.
In addition to her parents, Teresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anthony Verrillo; her sisters, Elisabetta (Citino) Migliarisi and her husband, Domenico Migliarisi, Rosa (Citino) Lombardo and her husband, Bruno Lombardo, Francesca (Citino) Iannuzzi and her husband, Giuseppe Iannuzzi, and Anna (Citino) Barbieri and her husband, Nicola Barbieri; her brother, Francesco Citino and his wife, Mary Ann (Grossi) Citino; her father-in-law, Orlindo Verrillo; her mother-in-law, Antonia Verrillo; her sister-in-law, Lucia (Verrillo) Limeburner and her husband, Russell Limeburner; and her brother-in-law, Salvatore Fraietta.
She is survived by her sister, Maria (Citino) Parafati and her husband, Giuseppe Parafati; her sister, Maria Grazia (Citino) Fraietta; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends in the United States, Italy, and Canada. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
