Maria R. Pabon, 78, of New Britain died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of Jose A. Pabon. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Luis Santana and Francisca Justiniano. Maria was a New Britain resident for over 40 years. Surviving are eight children and their spouses, Ramon and his wife Evelyn Pabon, Victor Pabon and his wife Isabel Ramos all of Puerto Rico, Wilfredo and his wife Norma Pabon, Iris and her husband Juan Irizarry, Jose A. Pabon and his companion Myrna, Jose H. and his wife Kim Pabon, Jesus Pabon, and Henry Pabon all of New Britain; six brothers and sisters, Jose A. Cancel, Justa Rita Lebron both from Florida, Maria Flores of Plainville, Irenes Santana, Luz Marina Vargas, and Alejandro Santana, all of Puerto Rico, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Martin Santana and many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Aresenio Santana, Ramon Cancel and Luis Cancel, sisters Aurea Santana and Candida Llantin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6-9 PM. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Hartford Hospital, Bliss 7-I for their care and kindness to the family.
